Company History

Founded in April 2020, SURGE – Strength & Results was the brainchild of Sam Gallo and Rishi Mirpuri – two of the most reputable personal trainer’s in Singapore with a common goal in mind, to take clients and forge them into a stronger, higher-performing and more durable version of themselves – through our hybrid online/personal training program.


With the vast number gyms now focusing on training, nutrition and lifestyle, we found through experience that not enough time was being spent on two of the more underrated components: mindset and sleep (recovery). On the flipside, online training programs weren’t providing enough feedback, nor were they being truly “personalized” to individuals that were subscribing to them.

Elite personal training gyms can often be quite expensive, whilst pure online personal training programs can be quite generic, albeit budget-friendly. Our goal was put something together as the middle ground for those wanting that little bit extra than your typical run-of-the-mill online coaching subscription, with a more budget-friendly alternative than the elite personal training gyms that are out there.

Our foundation program affords you the flexibility to work at your own pace, yet achieve outstanding results in the long-term. Not only will you be able to get into the best shape of your life; You’ll also learn how to stay in the best shape of your life during the process.


SAM GALLO Co-Founder

Sam has been working as personal trainer for the last 10 years in Italy, Australia and Singapore. Very well known in Singapore, he was declared as the trainer of the year in the world’s leading personal training company in 2017. For his impressive body transformation achievements, he was mentioned multiple times in different fitness magazine like Men’s Health Singapore amongst others. He specialises exclusively in 1:1 personal training, and is certified by NSCA and Sport nutrition specialist by NESTA.

Over the years Sam realise that a lot of the transformation were something unsustainable for his client. He believes that everyone can achieve their dream body despite any pre-existing condition (slip disc, scoliosis, etc). So he created SURGE to help his clients to reach their dream body and be able to sustain it. His company, SURGE is founded by 2 of the most experienced personal trainers in Singapore. Our mission is for our clients is to achieve their most optimal shape & perfor-mance through small changes in their lives.


With a decade of experience starting in Hong Kong and Singapore, Rishi has developed a reputation for being one of the most demanding trainers’ to work with in the industry. He firmly believes that when it comes to forging a new body or lifestyle, you need to transform your mindset first.

Rishi’s passion for personal training stemmed from university, where he completed his BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and mSc in Rehabilitation. A certified NASM and PTA Global personal trainer, he has experience working with clients’ of all ages and backgrounds, as well as being known and published for his expertise in pre & post-natal training for women. He was also featured in SHAPE magazine in 2019.

Consistency is the key to success, and at SURGE, success is the ONLY option. He Co Founded Surge in April 2020 with the vision to teach everyone how to live longer, by implementing simple daily habits, with consistency, that had the biggest impact on their lives.

Paul Miranda Senior Trainer

Paul is a licensed Physical Therapist in the Philippines and worked as a professor for two years, specializing in musculoskeletal and sports rehab in one of the well-known colleges in the Philippines. Paul moved to Singapore back in 2011 and was given the opportunity to work with one of the prestigious transformation gyms here in Singapore, where he was able to fully maximise his potential and became a senior trainer and mentor.

With 13 years of experience in personal training and with his vast knowledge on physiotherapy and anatomy, Paul was able to help clients improve their health especially those experiencing pain when doing exercises (i.e. knee, back and shoulder pain), by modifying and correcting movements.

Paul specialises in body recomposition, fat loss, weight loss and muscle building. His ultimate goal is to provide life-changing transformation to his clients. He believes that transformation isn’t a future event, but a present day activity.

Jayson Bernardo Senior Trainer

Jayson is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pursued his passion as a Personal Trainer. He’s been in this career for 12 years and has worked in one of the elite and No.1 transformation gyms in Singapore. In 2018, he was declared as one of the Top 5 in personal trainers in global ranking because he produced multiple transformations. He also achieved the title as a Senior Trainer and Mentor there.

He specialises in body recomposition, weight loss, fat loss, muscle building and strength and conditioning. He believes in applying the principles he’s learned, keeping the basics and making things simple in training and dieting.

His mission is to give you a positive experience that will lead you to a successful and sustainable body transformation.

Maria Bondarenko Team Trainer

Maria is an ACE-certified personal trainer who is passionate about helping people become the best version of themselves. She is a strong proponent of the holistic approach. Fitness is a way of living, not just occasional exercises. It includes your relationship with your body, your everyday physical activity, a suitable diet, the balance of work and rest, good sleep, and the ability to manage stress. Treat your body with respect and care, learn to listen to it, and you can achieve any desired transformation.

Combining devotion to physical activity, genuine interest in people, patience, and 15 years of working with people from different walks of life, Maria teaches trainees how to start, maintain, and enjoy active living at any age. She finds the scientific side of fitness fascinating and believes in measurable results, whether your goal is an improvement in body composition, a good posture, the correction of muscular imbalances, or pain-free running.

Maria Bondarenko

Mohammad Shaakir Team Trainer

‘Believe you can and you’re halfway there’ is something that truly resonates with Shaakir. When it comes to working towards specific and measurable goals with clients, he taps on the extraordinary power of thoughts to cultivate positive thinking within them. That’s because he knows that thoughts drive actions. With him, you’ll learn to keep going to see the results you want.

Armed with his extensive knowledge that he has gained while undertaking his bachelor’s in Sports Development coupled with his personal training certifications, Shaakir is ready to help people look and feel their best as he understands the science behind coaching and exercise. To him, fitness is much more than just exercise; it’s an amalgamation of healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits. He will empower you to make informed decisions one step at a time so that you can achieve more long-term success while making exercise fun, and not a chore.

Benny Lam Team Trainer

Time is our most valuable asset; it is imperative we get things right the first time.
Benny specializes in helping beginners get to speed in building their ideal physique through effective strength training and smart nutrition. He has a track record of creating fast transformations.
He advocates finding the minimum effective dose for maximum results. Put simply, he seeks to do the least to get the most and he believes education and empathy are the answer to achieving that.
Benny’s passion for fitness stemmed from his adolescent years when he was introduced to competitive sports.
Over his many years as a competitive athlete, he has represented Team Singapore in Youth Basketball, Volleyball, and in the Men’s Discus Throw.
As a personal trainer of 7 years with 14 years of training experience, Benny has strong empathy and a deep understanding of the human experience and movement. He knows what you are going through and knows how to guide you safely and effectively.
The human body is the vehicle for achieving the truly important, take care of it and it will take care of what matters.

Fai Ghazali Team Trainer

When she was 16, Fai embarked on her own weight loss journey and fell in love with training, eating better and feeling stronger. Sparking that fire in her to learn more about fitness, she took her diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences and then moved on to further her studies and by taking her Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences shortly after.

Being equipped with the knowledge and skills, Fai went on to work at the Orthopedic Sports and Joint Centre where she worked with rehabilitation patients and people with sports injuries. Focusing on strength and tactical sports training, she has helped many patients get stronger and eventually, get back to their sports. Other than that, Fai has worked with clients of all ages and fitness levels as a group class instructor specializing in high intensity interval training.

Through the years of experience with working with clients from varying backgrounds, she has developed an eye for detail in ensuring that her clients are performing the exercises safely and efficiently.

Sonam Phua Team Trainer

After being obese for most of his childhood, Sonam wanted to change his life. Armed with his game plan of losing body fat and gaining muscle through a combination of resistance training, proper nutrition, cardio exercises, and science, he managed to create his own winning formula. In pursuit of his passion, he completed a diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences and a degree in Sports Studies, and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

With 12 years of training experience specializing in both strength and hypertrophy training, as well as recovering from a devastating injury due to an accident while in national service, Sonam manage to overcome all the obstacles along the way and in turn, accumulate the experiences needed to help others in who are in a similar position where he has been.

Alongside honing his skills as a personal trainer for six years, Sonam is well equipped to help any individual achieve their goals. He has worked with a myriad of clients – those who want to achieve weight loss, injury rehab, those who are pregnant, as well as sports athletes.

Sonam believes in the qualities of having patience, consistency and hard work to help each and every client achieve their goals, and most importantly, sustain it.

KG Yeo Team Trainer

KG operates as a commercial airline pilot while pursuing his passion as a personal trainer. His passion for exercise and nutrition began during his competitive days in Canoeing and Judo, where he began his exploration to develop his physique for better sports performance. He is ACE CPT certified.

KG believes that fitness does not begin and end with each workout session. Rather, the key to wellness is about making consistent choices in our daily lives, including staying active and eating right. He is here to guide you to make healthy and sustainable choices, and to adopt fitness as a lifestyle. Focusing on good nutrition and effective training methods, he wants to help you achieve your goals.

With 15 years of training experience and knowledge in personal training and exercise, he is well equipped to guide you to attain a healthier physique with visible results. His ultimate goal is for clients to walk away with actionable knowledge to take them through the rest of their fitness journey.
